Stephen is an environmental consultant who specialises in ecology and freshwater systems. He is Director of Malford Environmental Consulting and previously worked for both large and small environmental consultancies. He has worked on a range of projects including:

- river restoration and habitat management planning
- large-scale species trapping, translocation and monitoring
